Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Named Chair of State Association
[Fox Cities] – Lynn Peters, Executive Director of the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau has been named Chair of the Wisconsin Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (WACVB). Peters will serve a two-year term, effective January 1, 2007.
Peters has been a WACVB Board member for seven years. She has served as chair of the Education Team, Secretary and Vice-chair where she spearheaded several legislative initiatives relevant to the tourism industry.
The Wisconsin Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (WACVB) initiates and administers cooperative ventures among Wisconsin’s top destination marketing organizations to enhance the Wisconsin's tourism industry’s promotional, educational and legislative efforts. WACVB currently has 32 members, representing more than $30 million in tourism promotional budgets to drive tourism growth in Wisconsin.
The Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, not-for-profit corporation working to develop an economically viable convention and visitor business in the Fox Cities. This is accomplished by attracting meetings, conventions and tournaments to the community and promoting area attractions and special events to tourists and other visitors.
Tourism created 6,046 jobs and $102.01 million in income for residents of the Fox Cities in 2005. Total tourism expenditures in 2005 were $355.35 million.
