Schueppert Named to Governor’s Council on Tourism Sports Committee

[Fox Cities] – Pete Schueppert, sports sales manager at the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau has been named to the Governor’s Council on Tourism Sports Committee .

The Governors Council on Tourism Sports Committee seeks to promote the growing trend of sports tourism in the state of Wisconsin through the recruitment or creation of sports events.  The committee pursues these goals through strategic partnerships in the sports event industry as well as various public relations, advertising, and trade show opportunities.

Committee members include representatives from sports governing bodies, hotels, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, the Wisconsin Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, and the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation. 

Schueppert has worked with local organizers to bring the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, North American Fastpitch Association World Series, International Softball Congress (ISC) Fastpitch Tournament, and other sporting events to the Fox Cities.

Tourism created 6,046 jobs and $102.01 million in income for residents of the Fox Cities in 2005. Total tourism expenditures in 2005 were $355.35 million.
