Doty Cabin

Before Wisconsin was admitted as a state, the 2nd territorial governor, James Doty, settled disputes and dispensed justice at his cabin located in Neenah's Doty Park. Seasonal tours offered in the summer. Costumed guides at Doty Cabin will give you a first-hand look at what life was like in the mid-1800s.

The Smith Octagon House

The Smith Octagon House is a landmark in the City of Neenah. It dates back to the 1850s, less than a decade after the first settlers arrived in the area. It was built with eight sides instead of the conventional four, and must have been an object of wonder and speculation to local residents. Take a tour with a guide from the Neenah Historical Society.

Gringon Mansion

The Grignon ("Green-yo") Mansion is an elegantly restored home that recaptures the heyday of the Fur Trade Era and life on the frontier for this early trader's family. Costumed guides lead tours of the Mansion and tell about the Grignons, their home, and everyday life on the Wisconsin frontier. Visitors may also browse through the Mansion's historic apple orchard, herb and vegetable gardens, and take home a treasure from the Museum Shop.

Historic Fox Locks Tour

Travel the waterway built at the turn of the century to create passage from the Great Lakes to the Mississippi. Lock through at the hands of the tender, just as you would have in the early 1900s. Learn why it was built, how it was built, why it failed to be the greatest water highway, and how the locals saved this piece of history.

Little Chute Windmill

The Little Chute Windmill and Van Asten Visitor Center strives to be an educational tool for all ages and a hub of Dutch cultural activity. Visitors will tour the different levels of the windmill and learn how it can harness wind power to grind grain into flour. The Van Asten Visitor Center will feature exhibits on the history of Dutch settlement in the Fox River Valley and northeast Wisconsin.

Heckrodt Nature Center

When you wander through Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, don't worry about getting wet feet! With more than 2 miles of boardwalk trail system, you can get right to the water's edge on Lake Winnebago and spot some fabulous creatures that make their home here. Turtles, water fowl and lots of other furry and feathered critters delight in this undisturbed environment. Then head to the indoor nature center where you'll learn more about the eco-system of this forested reserve.

Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve

Bubolz Nature Preserve is a 775-acre preserve located in Appleton. The preserve boasts an 8. mile trail system for hiking, jogging, bird watching, cross-country skiing and nature observation. Bubolz has an earth sheltered Nature Center with natural history exhibits, nature store, restrooms and auditorium for programs and meetings.

Butterfly Gardens

High Cliff State Park

It's right here at High Cliff State Park, just east of the Fox Cities. When you are here, you're standing on the Niagara Escarpment that runs through Door County to Niagara Falls. A 125-acre area within the 1,147-acre park is designated as a state natural area, recognizing its excellent cliff environments, an undisturbed wet-mesic forest, and more than a mile of Lake Winnebago shoreline.

Trestle Trail and Fritse Park

A 10 mile trail, the Trestle Trail spans Little Lake Butte des Morts, from Fritse Park in the Town of Menasha to the City of Menasha near the Menasha Locks. Open Year Round, their 1,600 foot long lighted pedestrian bridge (longest in WI) includes a center pavilion area with seating and several fishing platforms along the way.
