Feel like a change from watching football and baseball this coming weekend? Well, the Fox Cities will be host to two unique sporting events that you will surely want to check out.
First is the the Head of the Fox Regatta hosted by the Fox Valley Rowing Club. The regatta will take place on Saturday, October 1 in the Fox River near Peabody and Telulah Park. Rowing teams from across the Upper Midwest will travel to Appleton to compete in this inaugural competition. The action starts early in the morning and good viewing spots can be found at Peabody Park and on the College Ave. Bridge.
Second is the 13th Annual Hucktoberfest, held at the Neenah High School/Memorial Park Soccer Fields. Right now you are probably asking yourself, "What is Hucktoberfest"? Well, it's an ultimate tournament for about 40 midwestern collegiate teams. Now you are probably thinking, "What is ultimate"? Well, you will have to experience it for yourself, but it is a sport that is a little like soccer and a little like football and is played with a flying disc (or frisbee). Tournament action takes place all day Saturday with finals occuring on Sunday.
So diversify your sporting experiences this weekend and join me at the Head of the Fox Regatta and 13th Annual Hucktoberfest! |

| The paved half-mile D-shaped oval at Wisconsin International Raceway in the Kaukauna regularly hosts exciting Fox River Racing Club action each Thursday night. But on Tuesday, August 3, the track will host a special event, the Dixieland 150, with the touring stars of the American Speed Association (ASA) Midwest Tour. NASCAR drivers Johnny Sauter and Scott Wimmer will be making special appearances in the race. Racing fans in the Fox Cities know that some of today’s top NASCAR drivers have made stops at WIR and at the Dixieland 150 over the years. Notable names include: Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, and Mark Martin to name a few. Kenseth’s 17-year old son Ross is actually a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year honors on the ASA Midwest Tour and will look to take home the Dixieland title along with a host of up and coming drivers. Fans will also get to see an ASA Midwest Truck Tour race prior to the main event. General Admission tickets for all ages will be $15.
