We've put together a little list of ways to make the most of your fall in the Fox Cities!
Although we’re experiencing warmer than normal temps for September, Fall is still fast approaching and people are gearing up for sweater weather, football season, apple-picking, pumpkin patches and all things fall.
Farm MarketsMany of our area farm markets run through October. It's the perfect time to check out new fall crafts, fresh in-season produce and enjoy the tastes of fall! Click here to see a full list of farm markets in our area.
Visit an orchard for fresh local apples and have even more fall fun with a visit to our local farms for pumpkins and traditional fall activities.
Visit for their Pumpkin Harvest Celebration mid-September through October. Pick a FREE pumpkin, and while you're there take some time to ride a pony, play with a pig, pet a goat, take a hayride and have some fun of the farm!
Corn maze, straw bale maze, combine slide, corn pool, farm play rooms, duck racer, and rock n' rollers. Take their pumpkin ride for $10 per person (2 and under free), it includes one large pumpkin, two mini pumpkins, two gourds, and two pieces of corn, all picked by you! They also have fall food and craft items, corn stalks and more!
Take short drive outside the Fox Cities and test your corn maze skills. They feature the area’s largest corn maze and plenty of other great fall activities.
Enjoy the fall colors at High Cliff State Park. With trails for any skill level. Take a leisurely walk or hike a more challenging trail, enjoy the views of Lake Winnebago or visit the old Lime Kiln Ruins. Best time for peak fall colors is late September to mid-October.
Experience fall colors from the water with a relaxing paddle on the Fox River. While most think of kayaking as a summer activity, October is still a beautiful time to head out (dressed accordingly of course). The Recyclist Bicycle Co.in Appleton offers kayak rentals and can give route suggestions. Fox River Kayaking Company offers guided tours and rental options. Keep in mind the Fox River lock system closes this time of year so be sure to plan your route accordingly.
