Home Away from Home for the Holidays

Hosting family or spending the weekend in the Fox Cities around Christmas? These ideas will help entertain your loved ones or even yourself!

The Fox Cities are home to numerous museums, ranging from the fine glass art on display at the Bergstrom Mahler Museum of Glass to the interactive exhibits at the Building for Kids Children's Museum. If you're looking for some holiday-themed exhibits to keep everyone merry and bright, head on over to The Trout Museum of Art. During the holiday season, the museum is hosting two exhibits, "This is Christmas: Original Concept Art from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Both holiday-themed exhibits run through February 2. For a full listing of area museums and their hours, visit our Museums & Historical sites page here.

Indoor Fun

The Fox Cities have some of the best spots to let the kids, and maybe some adults, drain energy to ensure that not a creature is stirring. These indoor attractions are open year-round and are a great way to stay out of the cold. Badger Sports Park has provided Fox Cities residents and visitors with top-notch attractions since 1993. Their 23,000-square-foot indoor facility plays host to arcade games, escape rooms, inflatables, a laser maze, laser tag, mini-bowling, and a new virtual reality experience called Hologate. Hologate is an immersive and physically engaging activity for all ages. The quality graphics place you right in the middle of the action where you could find yourself in a snowball fight or battling a horde of ravenous zombies. Ask about the Christmas Break Special on your visit to Badger Sports Park. One of the Fox Cities' newest attractions, Urban Air Adventure Park, brings new thrills to the Fox Cities. Ride the Sky Coaster, take a spin on the Flip Zone Bumper Car, jump in the Trampoline Park, fulfill your need for speed on the indoor go-kart track, and so much more! For a complete listing of indoor amusement options, visit our website here.

Take Some Wisconsin Home

Much like the rest of the state, the Fox Cities have no shortage of two Wisconsin staples: beer and dairy. Multiple breweries make up a delicious and exciting craft beer scene here in the Fox Cities. Pick up beer made from four simple ingredients to adhere to the German Purity Law from OB's Brau Haus in Appleton or try something more wild like Cinnamon Roll Crunch from Barrel 41 Brewing Company in Neenah. For more information on local breweries read our blog, Good Times are Brewing. Moving onto the dairy, Lamers Dairy has been providing the Fox Cities with milk and much more for over 100 years! The family-owned operation gets into the holiday spirit every year by making fresh eggnog twice a week; stop in and ask for more holiday deals. Finally, a stop at Simon's Specialty Cheese is a must. Their cheese baskets are a great gift to send your visitors from out of town back home with and their signature squeaky cheese curds are sure to be a hit at any holiday party!
