Jazz Coterie presents award-winning singer/saxophonist Camille Thurman. With Wallace Roney, Jr. on trumpet, Jordan Williams on piano, Paul Beaudry on bass, and Darrell Green on drums.
Referred to as the "classic double threat" by NPR, Camille Thurman is equally adept on the tenor saxophone and vocals. The New York City-born artist has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, Dexter Gordon, and Joe Henderson.
Camille has distinguished herself as a powerhouse musician and electrifying artist. Downbeat Magazine describes Camille as a performer who could shape Jazz for decades. She made a historic and memorable mark as the first woman to perform and tour full-time with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (2018-2020). Camille has made a name for herself as a bandleader, collaborating with veteran New York Drummer Darrell Green.
From Camille’s dreamy vocals, electrifying saxophone lines, and Darrell’s mesmerizing rhythmic colors to dynamic interpretations of standards and originals, this fiery musical collaborative team will make a significant impact for years to come. Renew your senses to what jazz sounds, looks, and feels like while listening to two of the most dynamic young, creative, and talented forces on the music scene.
