Overview

Community curators in Wisconsin present a workshop on the Cia Siab in Wisconsin curriculum held in the Appleton Public Library's Special Collections. The curriculum is tied to an exhibit that traveled to cities in Wisconsin with the highest HMoob populations: Eau Claire, Fox Valley, Madison, Milwaukee, La Crosse, and Wausau.

This exhibit uses the HMoob words "cia siab" (jia-shia) for hope and "HMoob" the indigenous spelling of HMoob that includes both the green and white HMoob dialect.

The project engages audience in conversations about war, historical trauma, the battlefields of memory, resilience, and healing.
