Appleton has been named among "The Best Places to Live in America" for 2019 by Money.

Money reviewed communities with populations of 50,000+ to compile its annual list of 100 cities, towns, and neighborhoods where you “should – and can afford to – settle down.” It reviewed data focusing on each place's economic health, cost of living, ethnic and economic diversity, public education, income, health and safety, ease of living, and amenities. Economic factors, housing, health and safety, diversity, and cost of living were most heavily weighted, and quality of life, education, and local amenities were also critical considerations.
