Consider it unconventional and unexpected, but a growing all-original summer music festival, Mile of Music, in downtown Appleton has become the place for budding black indie artists to embrace their creativity, boost their profiles, and share their original music with the type of audiences they crave. DeAnna Taylor with Travel Noire sat down with 2019 Mile musicians (Phillip Michael Scales, B. Lilly, Lizzie No, and Nikki Morgan) to discuss their original tunes, profiles as black artists, and gratitude for the Fox Cities/Greater Appleton and this growing original music festival.
